The Malecon Beach House has the best location in Progreso and only one block up from Malecón walkway & beach!

The large rooftop with a huge palapa shaded area and plenty of seating to enjoy the breeze and views of the beach and sea (or rather the Gulf of Mexico!) Have a sunset cocktail up here or just enjoy some food al fresco with your group! The beautiful garden courtyard pool! Surrounded by mature palm trees and a cement palapa shaded area with seats for enjoying some time out of the sun or a beverage. When time to venture out, the complex is situated just a block from the east end of Progreso’s famous Malecón, a paved waterfront promenade that runs from Calle 60 (the street you’re on!) to Calle 80! It’s a 1.1km/.68 miles walk one way, and it’s loaded with things to see and do. There you’ll find a large selection of restaurants, many of them selling seafood and of course since it’s oceanfront, you can dine with a beach view!

Electricity : for stays of 21 nights or more, there is a 10 USD weekly electricity fee. Please note that for stays of 30 nights or more, there is a mandatory mid-stay cleaning fee of 25 USD.

The Beach and Malecon

When it is time to venture out, the complex is situated just a block from Progreso’s famous Malecón, a paved waterfront promenade that runs from Calle 60 (the street you’re on!) to Calle 80! It’s a 1.1km/.68 miles walk one way and it’s loaded with things to see and do. There are many signs perfect for you photo opportunities. You’ll find a large selection of restaurants, including seafood where you can dine with a beach view! Try a marquesita (a crunchy crepe-like roll filled with sweet or savory fillings) from the many street vendors along the Malecon!

There are also shoreside palapas where you can dine or enjoy a delicious cocktail with an even closer view of the ocean.

If you want more of a walk, stroll the Progreso Pier at the west end of the Malecón. It’s an incredible 6.5 kilometers long (4 miles)! It is the world’s longest pier and hosts cruise ships and cargo vessels.

Past the pier, the Malecon continues as a less formal walkway with food venders, and statues and signs for picture taking and amusement rides including a Ferris wheel.

And lastly, simply go for a swim in the warm shallow water. Enjoy sand in your toes as you relax at the beach with the beautiful expansive view of the Gulf of Mexico.

And again, your adventures on the Malecon and beach is just a block from your apartment! You can make it an everyday trip if you want!

Airport to the Malecon Beach house

The Merida International Airport (MID) is the closest airport. It’s about 50 km or 31 miles (a 40 min drive) to the apartment or aprox 500 Pesos (25 US) taxi ride.

If you happen to be flying into Cancun International Airport (CUN), it’s about a 4-hour drive to Progreso if you rent a car. Or take a taxi from the Cancun airport to the ADO bus terminal and travel regular or first class (Platimum) to Merida. Here you can take a 500 pesos taxi ride to your suite at the Malecon Beach House.

Shopping

Only a 12-minute walk to Cento (downtown) where there are many stores, restaurants, and The Market where you can buy fresh produce and flowers etc. For some basic supplies, try Waldo or La Plazita, which offer inexpensive dollar store type pricing, also located in Centro.

For groceries, it’s a short taxi ride to Walmart, Super Aki, or Soriana (50 peso aprox $3 US)

Convenience Stores: OXXO stores are located everywhere, including one a 4-minute walk away.

ATTRACTIONS AND THINGS TO DO

You can go see the beautiful pink flamingos at the pink-tinged salt ponds at various places including Laguna Rosada – or the town of Celestún (Reserva de la Biosfera Ria Celestún)
Kayak or stand-up paddleboard through the mangrove
Engage in watersports like paddleboarding, kayaking, kite surfing lessons, etc.
Visit Reserva Ecológica El Corchito where there are 3 crystal clear cenotes to enjoy (cenotes are freshwater sinkholes that are unique to this area)
Take an excursion to visit one of the many Mayan Ruins. Chichén Itzá being one of the most famous of course as it’s one of the 7 Wonders of the Modern World!
Visit one of the lesser-known archeological sites of Dzibilchaltun or Xcambo, still very fascinating!
Explore one of the neighboring beach towns of Chelem and Chuburná and enjoy the beach there!
Take a trip to Mérida, the capital of the Yucatan, which offers many exciting tours and great shopping.
Visit Valladolid, a 16th-century colonial town or the magical yellow town of Uxmal!
For Golf there is the Jack Nicklaus Academy which is a 28-min drive (27 km/17 miles)

Welcoming our Guests

Please contact us at least 24 hours in advance of your arrival to coordinate the meet-up time for your check-in.

Our bilingual Host Manager will give you a tour of the property, show you the shared common areas, which include the Rooftop Patio and the Pool with garden courtyard. To ensure fair and equal access to our amenities and reduce over-crowding, the Rooftop and Pool and garden areas are only available for registered guests.

Our host will answer any questions you may have and introduce you to the many aspects of your suite and the basic rules before leaving you with your keys.

There are NO CHECK-INS AFTER 7 PM and it can be as early as 4 PM unless special advanced permission is granted. Check outs are at usually at11AM to allow for cleaning before the next guest’s arrival.

From there, you’ll have complete privacy during your stay, but if you should you need anything we’re available 7 days per week. Just send us a message!
